Capturing a wedding day at Huntsham Court near Tiverton in Devon is always a privilege. This summer wedding was no exception. The estate’s stunning English gardens and traditional country house charm set the scene for a day filled with colour, laughter, and timeless elegance. As a Devon wedding photographer, I witnessed moments that perfectly balanced luxury with natural beauty, all told through candid, documentary-style images.
A Ceremony Surrounded by History and Nature
The couple chose to exchange vows in the estate’s beautiful church, a historic gem nestled within the grounds of Huntsham Court. The soft light filtering through stained glass windows created a gentle glow. I loved the bride's dress with floaty sleeves and a delicate, long veil that gently caught the breeze now and again. Her elegant style was complemented by bridesmaids in striking blue patterned dresses, which added a fresh pop of colour against the warm tones of the church interior.
The flowers were another highlight, carefully selected to enhance the English garden theme. (by Emma Hewlett floral designs) Their vibrant yet soft colours brought a sense of luxury without feeling overdone.
Intimate Moments and Garden Celebrations
After the ceremony, the celebrations moved outdoors to the estate’s lush formal gardens. The speeches took place in this open, airy space, where guests enjoyed drinks and light-hearted garden games. This part of the day was full of candid moments, from laughter to heartfelt toasts, all captured naturally without interruption.
One of my favourite parts was when the bride and her bridesmaids took a quiet timeout together. Bathed in soft light, they shared a few peaceful moments away from the crowd. These images reflect the calm and connection that often go unseen but are so important on a busy wedding day.
Evening Vibes with Soulful Sounds and Warm Gatherings
As the sun set, the party truly came alive. The dancefloor was busy and lively, with a live band playing soulful tunes that kept everyone moving. The warm colours of the evening light, combined with the glow from fire pits, created a cozy atmosphere. Guests enjoyed delicious pizza from a van parked outside. I also popped upstairs with the bride and groom, as a photo of them in the twin bath tubs was a must!
The night ended with a magical sparkler send-off, a perfect way to close a day filled with joy and elegance. These moments, full of energy and warmth, were captured with a documentary approach that brings the story to life for the couple to relive for years.
